July Open Studios
This year, as Cambridge Open Studios had to be cancelled, Cambridge Open Windows has instead been kindly organised by members of the COS team. It is meant to be a 'treasure hunt' to see displays from local artists in their windows or front gardens. If you are interested, please check out the Histon & Impington (12 locations!), Ely and Cambridge maps for red dots on the Cambridge Open Studios website, and a local poster will will be going up and take a look while you go out for a walk - on all 4 weekends during July.
My display will be at 3 The Coppice, Impington, CB24 9PP.
In additions to my ceramics, you will also be able to see a few colourful polymer clay earrings and pendants made by Hannah Cook. They inspired by paintings of Georgia O'Keefe.
I hand-build, using coiling or slab building techniques. I scraffito, carve or paint on the clay. My ceramics are often sculptural, but in an abstract way, every single one is different.
Most of my work is made with stoneware clay, coloured with oxides and glazes and sometimes glass. I fire in an electric kiln to 1250 degrees C. This means the pieces are dishwasher and frostproof. My ideas are influenced by plants and people.
