July Open Studios
I live outside of Cambridge in a beautiful rural setting. My inspiration comes from the world around me, whether its nature or man-made. The colours, textures and emotions I sense from my surroundings enable me to be inspired and to create my work. I take photographs, sketch and paint ideas and inspiration continually now and really enjoy teaching workshops, such as my well-received ‘Floral Shimmer’.
I learned stitch and textile-based crafts from my mother, aunt and gran and have developed an art practice inspired by them. Sewing has always given me the time to slow down, to reflect and to have time to myself. In 2017 I had the great pleasure of winning the Festival of Quilts Visitor’s Choice Award for my quilt ‘Free to Roam’ in 2017. I am a graduate of the SEFWI Creative Stitch course and a member of the Eastern Region Textile Forum, having exhibited with them in Saffron Walden.
