I work exclusively in stone using hand carving techniques. I veer between figurative and abstract subjects yet the human form is always present.

Having trained in fine art and graphic design at Dartington College of Arts and Corsham (Bath Academy of Art) I took up sculpting in stone over 20 years ago on moving to Cambridge. I enjoy the sheer physicality of shaping stone and coaxing out the different textures. I tend to let the stone itself suggest the form which then evolves organically. I like to use a variety of stones including alabaster and African spring stone. I glean particular satisfaction from carving British limestone as it suits my quest for simplicity of form.
