Cambridge Open Art Exhibition October 2019

Exhibition of art at Cambridge Open Art Exhibition October 2019. A series of artwork using Pen and Alcohol ink on Yupo Paper.

Autumn Leaves

I create a range of contemporary art inspired by abstract art and the beauty, we find all around us in nature. I love to take woodland walks with my family and collect natural forms such as leaf skeletons, feathers, pods and different plant specimens. Visits to the Zoology Museum is a sourse of inspiration.

Fluidity

The art pieces are entitled Fluidity and are part of a series whereby I explore colour blending with alcohol inks. The technique involves merging the alcohol inks on the Yupo paper and once dry, adding fine dots where the colours merge. Each creation is unique as the black and white dots are added spontaneously, therefore making each art piece completely unique.

Red Circles

The art pieces are entitled Red Circles and are part of a series whereby I explore colour blending with alcohol inks. The technique involves merging the alcohol inks on the Yupo paper and once dry, adding fine line, dots and shapes around the merging colours.  Each creation is unique as the pen marks are spontaneously added, therefore making each art piece completely unique.

Fragments In Time

I create a range of contemporary art inspired by abstract art and the beauty, we find all around us in nature. I love to take woodland walks with my family and collect natural forms such as leaf skeletons, feathers, pods and different plant specimens. Visits to the Zoology Museum is a source of inspiration. This series is inspired by the time spent with my close family members in 2020 while fragmented from others.

Dashes Of Light

The art pieces are entitled Dashes of Light and are part of a series whereby I explore colour blending with alcohol inks. Welcome to my Cambridge Open Art Studio page. The Russet Studio is my sanctuary on the outskirts of Cambridge where I create a range of contemporary art inspired by abstract art and the beauty, we find all around us in nature. I love to take woodland walks with my family and collect natural forms such as leaf skeletons, feathers, pods and different plant specimens. I frequently visiting the  Zoology Museum in Cambridge and studying natural form structures closely to inspire my artwork.

I am a contemporary mixed media artist specialising in painting and drawing. I enjoy experimenting with ink, pen, collage, oils and acrylic. I work in a range of mediums, however, currently create fine art using pen and alcohol inks on Yupo paper. Often creating unique abstract outcomes which can be refined with a diverse range of drawing and painting processes. I find alcohol inks on Yupo paper enables me to create patterns and forms which can lead into exciting colour combinations. I take my inspiration from the shapes found in nature. I collect natural forms and use these to inspire realistic paintings and abstract patterns, often amalgamating these together to create bespoke artwork.

I studied Fine Art at Staffordshire University gaining a BA Honours in Fine Art. I majored in Installation art and Site Specific art. Upon graduating I trained as an Art teacher and went on to study an MA in Education Management and Leadership. I continue to teach.

I recently exhibited in the October 2019 Cambridge Open Arts exhibition and my art can be seen at the 'CONNECT' online exhibition on the Rooftop Arts Centre in Corby website alongside 50 other artists. Please follow the link to see more  . As well as creating my own collection of art I also work on commission pieces. Please feel free to see these on my social media pages, alternatively visit The Russet Studio facebook page, or contact me in person to make an appointment.
