Etchings of UK outside Cambridge

Etchings from around the country.  Some drawn directly on the plate, on the spot, and in reverse (so the printed image is the right way round).

"Charlestown" is my biggest ever etching plate, drawn in reverse, with the plate on an easel.

"Moonlit Charlestown" was drawn on the spot, directly but not in reverse.  This former China clay port is now  much used for filming ("The Onedin Line", "Poldark"etc).

"The Stuntney view" was also drawn on the spot in reverse, with the plate resting on the car roof.

"Milden Third Man - The Nine Churches" dates back to my village cricket days in Suffolk.   I had recently seen some of Glynn Thomas's characteristic "fish-eye view" etchings; when I found myself fielding in the deep close to a trig. point (bottom right), I found I could see both Lavenham Church (top left), and the tower of Stoke-by-Nayland (away in the distance at the bottom). I was inspired to come back the next weekend and make a pencil drawing, from which I created this etching several years later.
